Antique brass cast iron cherub late Victorian parlour lamp.Marked NB & IW No. 35 on the base - National Brass and Iron Works founded in Reading, Pennsylvania in 1891 and closed in 1911. NB & IW manufactured art metal goods such as lamps, cabinets and statuettes. They established a plant at Green and Tulehocken Streets, adjoining the Lebanon Valley Railroad.Weighing close to 9 lbs, it stands approx 15" tall with a base 7" x 7"Structurally, in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips. The green marble cylindrical base has a very minor roughness to its circumference, but no visible chips. The gold color is very worn, but the underlying cast iron color is perhaps more attractive. Lamp needs to be rewired, which would be very simple. Part of disc on underside of base is missing (photo 10)Photo 1 is flash photography to show detail, but lamp resembles more the color of photo 6.This lamp has a lot of charm and displays beautifully.I have found a couple of other NB & IW items on the internet, but very few, and nothing like this lamp.
